I know, I suck. I've been a little preoccupied with real life so the site has been neglected. I put up the defcon pics shortly after the con but never posted here saying so. I haven't put up the pics from Black Hat yet though. Well, I haven't put up the ones from Black Hat Europe yet either, so, meh.

I thought about doing audio blogs since my problem is taking the time to sit down and write something, and I figure that might be a good way to express my thoughts. Also, it'd give people a chance to hear what a dork I am.

I got a phone with a camera recently(Nokia 7610) so I started using phonese.cx(pronounced "phonesex"). It's a project com4 started and I dig it, so I added a module that puts the latest image I uploaded over in the lower right sidebar, Moblog goodness. It took me awhile to get a phone with a cam because I wanted one worth having, and this one has a 1 MegaPixel cam, so it's ok, but better than most camera phones. Although the pics look like ass if taken in low light. Anyway, I like it and I slapped a 512MB RS-MMC in there so I have plenty of storage. Weee!

Maybe I'll make the next entry an audio one. We'll see.

We had dc801 over at eco's tonight and put some of the finishing touches on the Defcon Scavenger Hunt and Defcon Movie Channel. A, Com4, kampf, datawolf, tierra, dedhed, and d-ren were there. It was good to sit down and flesh out some of the items we compiled, as well as add some new ones. It's going to be a good hunt this year, and I feel pretty good about it.

As far as the movie channel goes, we've got tons of shorter clips/content, but we're still going to have a bunch of movies in there. We have to have stuff like Sneakers, Hackers, WarGames, and Fifth Element as well as a chunk of other movies, but this year will certainly focus more on shorter content. Most of the feedback that we got last year said that people really liked the shorter stuff because it allowed them to turn on the TV, watch something for a bit, then get out of their room and chill, not be tied to the TV for the next 1.5-2 hours. So we're going to deliver on that.

I have some old MTV's Liquid Television episodes we're throwing in, some Aeon Flux, as well as a bunch of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and other good stuff. And of course, a ton of videos that the internet has been serving up for the last year+.

It's weird that Black Hat/Defcon will be here in less than three weeks. Time has flown the last few months, I feel like I just got back from Black Hat Europe, which reminds me, I need to get the pictures up.

It's after 4:00AM and tomorrow/today is the 4th of July. Happy Birthday America. I'll be spending my Independence Day at a soccer match where if all goes right Real Salt Lake will hand the NY/NJ Metrostars their ass. I'll keep my fingers crossed, the Real offense has been lacking as of late. And after the match there's a big fireworks display. Damn I love soccer. Anyway, I'm going to bed.

RedBox

So, I just ran into my first RedBox. Not the free phone call kind, but the DVD vending machine kind. I don't know if I've been living in the woods for awhile and just hadn't heard about them, but I have to say, they're sweet. My wife pointed it out as we drove past the McDonald's so we pulled in to take a look.

They look nice and it's a great idea. For those who haven't seen one yet, they're red boxes about the size of two refridgerators side by side, they hold 350(soon new machines will hold 550) DVDs with 40 new releases on the menu. It costs a dollar a day and if you choose not to return it, after 25 days you own the DVD. You can only pay with a credit card, so that's how they charge you for the DVD. You can drop them off at a RedBox anywhere in the US, so I'm thinking this would be sweet for roadtrips. No more $8 movies in crappy hotels on the road, just find a McDonald's with a RedBox and pay your buck. Genius.

I know I sound like a commercial for these freaking boxes, but seriously, what took them so long?

Anyway, I totally dug it, and I'll have to try it out soon. If you want some more info, here's a few links.
