The Delta Park Blog
Shazam!
April 13, 2006 | LeeAnother comic book movie adaptation is on the way - and it's one I'm very excited about. Captain Marvel is a character with a great hook but isn't on the radar of most movie-goers. It's the story of an innocent boy that harnesses the power of ancient gods to become a grown-up (and still innocent) super-man with powers rivaling (you guessed it) Superman!
Unfortunately, Peter Segal ("The Longest Yard," "50 First Dates" and "Anger Management") is set to direct. If the tone and cinematography is anything like the films on his resume, we're in trouble. But, if he can get a fresh look for the hero's tale, I'm on board 100%. Also, if we could leave the rest of the Marvel family out of this, that would be great.

Top 10 Nitpicked Movies
December 19, 2005 | JasonI often think I should be hired to be a continuity person on a movie. I am really good at picking out flaws between edits.. but these guys are just plain over-kill.
The Nitpickers Site is dedicated to nitpicking movies apart. Kinda ruins them if you ask me. They have a list of the top 10 most nitpicked movies: Titanic is number 1, followed by Jurassic Park and Scream.

The Da Vinci Code Trailer
December 15, 2005 | JasonWe saw this trailer last night at 'King Kong'. I really enjoyed the audiobook and it looks like it will make a pretty good movie. Anna mentioned, (and I agree) that the book was written like a movie, in the way the chapters are broken up.
And Tom Hanks really needs to put a new "good" movie under his belt after that 'The Terminal' debacle.

Bowie is Tesla
November 21, 2005 | LeeDavid Bowie will play Tesla in the upcoming Christopher Nolan film "The Prestige."
Just to clarify, this is the inventor Nikola Tesla, not the rugged, long-haired 80s band responsible for you knowing the song "Signs." You see, they named themselves after the scientist, and often referenced his career in their albums, most notably 1989's The Great Radio Controversy. - The more you know...
Batman Begins stars Michael Caine and Christian Bale will also be in the film.

New Release Highlights for 11/15
November 15, 2005 | LeeGet yo' music on!
Pick of the Week
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run 30th Anniversary Edition
This 3 disc set expands upon what is quite possibly the best American release of the 1970s. It includes the remastered album with 48 page booklet, a documentary DVD and a concert DVD. This isn't the best place to start with The Boss, but it's a must have for even casual fans.
Un-Pick of the Week
Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor
We move from the best of the 70s to a new release that embodies the worst of the 70s, disco. Madonna should reinvent herself as a roots-rocker or jazz soloist. That would turn some heads. This is just boring and sad.

Aquaman Comes to the Small Screen
November 14, 2005 | LeeAquaman will soon join Superman on the WB Network, courtesy of the producers of "Smallville," the cult favorite about the early years of the Man of Steel.
-- Reuters
So, we all know this is a bad idea. Aquaman could barely hold up his end of the bargain on Superfriends. The big question is, will we get the old school Aqua or the new ass-kickin' version?

50 Cent Movie "A Disaster"
November 8, 2005 | Lee
via Seattle Post-Intelligencer
All bets are off for Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, whose film debut should get him laughed out of show business. Based on his own trumped-up autobiography, "Get Rich or Die Tryin' " is a disaster on all levels.
"Get Rich" [IMDB] is currently rocking a 45 at Metafilter while Ebert and Roper somehow both gave it a thumbs up last week.

New Release Highlights for 11/8
November 7, 2005 | LeeWhat's new and good for you in music stores this week.
Pick of the Week

Johnny Cash - The Complete Sun Recordings
Go ahead and buy it before you see Walk the Line. After you hear Joaquin slaughter these songs, you'll need the originals to keep you from ending your life. That's not to say the movie will be bad (I have high expectations for it) - but nobody would have criticized them for using the original takes. You can't beat early Cash.
Runner Up
Beastie Boys - Solid Gold Hits
Any other week, this would have won out. For the first time, get all the Beastie's hits, including the Def Jam era, in one convenient package. 15 of the best hip hop songs ever.
