A jury awarded $1.4 million in damages to a former TV anchor who claimed that doctors at Oregon Health & Science University botched his back surgery. Ken Ackerman said the surgery left him with a constant pain in his right arm and without most of the fine motor skills in his right hand.

A St. Helens man has been found guilty of murdering his neighbor, an elderly woman who he had been in a dispute with over a home. The jury returned its verdict against Barry Dent Thursday afternoon, finding him guilty of killing 73-year-old Laurene McGilvra, who was reported missing in May of 2002. Watch
