National Geographic: Animal-Human Hybrids Spark Controversy

"Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras—a hybrid creature that's part human, part animal..."

Makes me uncomfortable when I think about it for more than ten seconds. Anyone else feel the same?

At first I was like hey thats cool... then it slowly started to sink in what a horror it really could have been if they had gone all the way. I personaly dont think a person is alive till it or its body can react to its environment, and that all it really was, was a bunch of fluff in a small dish befor they terminated it. But after that point I would be greatly displease to say it nicely.

Sorry if this upsets anyone but this is how I personaly feel about this subject.

Well, putting ethics beside, isn't anyone just curious to see what the result would look like?!
But I DO agree that animals should be left to live their 'animal lives'!

This really disturbs me beyond anything I've read recently. The side affects of trying to play God and creating a new entity can completely upset the balance of what is out there. Not to mention the ethics that are destroyed to do such a heinous thing. Just looking at the social ramifications what would happen with a hybrid? Would the same rights be applied, would it now be murder to kill a rat since it has a human brain? Yeah there might be some good as far as medical that comes from it, but does that make it good thing when you change everything from it's original design.

Just my opinion.

How about if somebody puts all their big brains to work on something good? Something useful? Something that cleans up the mess we humans make of things? Why do we keep trying to screw up NEW things?

Okay, you got me in one of those moods. You started it with the imperfect passphrases issue. One more example of everything humans touch turns out imperfect and human.
