Important: The .NET Framework 2.0 (x86) redistributable package is now available here. The download on this page is an older version of the software and should only be downloaded under extenuating circumstances.

The Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 Beta redistributable package includes everything you need to run applications developed using the .NET Framework.

The .NET Framework version 2.0 improves scalability and performance with improved caching, application deployment and updating with ClickOnce, support for the broadest array of browsers and devices with ASP.NET 2.0 controls and services. For more information on the .NET Framework 2.0 see http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework.

Important: You cannot install two different language versions of the .NET Framework on the same machine. Attempting to install a second language version of the .NET Framework will cause the following error to appear: "Setup cannot install Microsoft .NET Framework because another version of the product is already installed." If you are targeting a non-English platform or if you wish to view .NET Framework resources in a different language, you must download the appropriate language version of the .NET Framework language pack.

If you have been directed to do a server installation, you must have the following software installed in addition to the typical installation requirements:
• Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8; is recommended. This is for applications that use data access.
• Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.0 or later. To access the features of ASP.NET, IIS with the latest security updates must be installed prior to installing the .NET Framework.
• ASP.NET is supported only on the following platforms: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 3 recommended), Microsoft Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 3 recommended), Microsoft Windows XP Professional, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family.
